Overview:
The Village at Mercy Creek, an Assisted Living community in Normal, IL is looking for a dynamic Director of Dining Services.
Plans, organizes, develops and directs the overall operation of the Dining Services Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and manages the Dining Services Department.
Develops, revises and maintains policies, procedures, job descriptions and staff evaluations for the Dining Services Department.
Coordinates dining services and activities with other related departments (i.
e.
Environmental Services, Life Enrichment, Marketing, etc.
).
Coordinates dining services for special activities, dinners and business meetings held at the facility, including resident’s personal events.
Assists the dining services staff in the development and use of departmental policies, procedures, equipment, supplies, etc.
Performs administrative duties such as completing all necessary forms, reports, evaluations, payroll, etc.
as required.
Assumes administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of supervising dining services.
Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the Executive Director as necessary or required concerning the operation of the Dining Services Department.
Develops an annual operating and capital budget and adheres to budget guidelines for Dining Services.
Works with the facilities consultants as necessary and implements recommended changes as required.
Inspects all areas of department for upkeep and supply control.
Responsible for menu development, food service contracts, inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment.
Handles emergency situations, such as rescheduling work assignments and work schedules, fire and evacuations, etc.
Participates in all survey inspections and reviews and develops a plan of correction for dining services findings noted during survey inspections.
Schedules, coordinates, and orients in-service education for staff as required.
Hires appropriate staff for the department and monitors, counsels and terminates staff as deemed appropriate and documents actions related to hiring, counseling and terminating.
Orients staff in the proper, safe use of equipment, supplies, etc.
Develops implements and maintains a procedure for reporting hazardous conditions or equipment.
Tracks and ensures all food and equipment temperatures meet regulation standards.
Monitors proper labeling and dating of food (Serv-Safe).
Maintains compliance with all sanitation guidelines as outlined by the Illinois Department of Health.
Required skills and qualifications:
Culinary degree, or equivalent years of experience
At least two years management experience in a dining environment preferred
Manager Food Safety License
Ability to work in fast paced environment
Must enjoy working with the senior population
