Grow Your Skills, Grow Your Potential: Responsibilities: State Farm’s new Internal Developer Platform team seeks a Lead Software Engineer who will lead strategic and highly visible work optimizing engineers’ daily routines, reduce toil and streamline the process of modernizing internal applications.
This role will also deliver on early capabilities around Secrets Management and other critical features.
Our internal developer platform represents a complete platform engineering solution that seamlessly integrates traditional application stacks, AI/ML stacks and operational and analytics data assets ensuring standardized and reliable automation processes so our teams can focus on business-value work while leveraging core capabilities and the best public cloud services.
The ideal candidate must have a successful track record of contributing to strategic work, solution design, development, and deployment.

Extensive hands-on experience in developing and deploying solutions on distributed compute platforms like AWS or similar platforms.
Proficiency in utilizing CI/CD tools such as Gitlab to streamline the development and deployment process.
Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and Cloud Formation to automate and manage infrastructure resources.
Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and tools as needed.
Skilled in conducting thorough research and incorporating industry best practices into processes and potential solutions.
In-depth understanding of State Farm's data and application engineering practices, allowing for seamless integration and collaboration.
Strong critical thinking skills, enabling the ability to challenge and improve existing methods by applying appropriate technologies for effective problem-solving.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to collaborate and influence others effectively in a team environment.
Hands-on experience with Credential Management tools such as Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, etc.

Proficiency in utilizing Logging, Tracing, and Reporting tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, AWS CloudWatch, etc.

Familiarity with industry-standard protocols and frameworks for API development, including REST, SOAP, GraphQL, etc.

Knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms, such as OAuth, JWT, API keys, etc.
