The Life Communications product team is tasked with modernizing the way Life Company communicates with its policyholders.
The team works together with business and ET partners to achieve a digital first omnichannel communication strategy.
This team is underway with several modernization projects including a new AWS front end User Initiated Communication tool, the Life Modernization (API, Schemas, LPAT) development work and a transition from legacy technologies to a more modern solution for populating legacy policy pages.

We want an individual who will think critically and be willing to proactively ask questions.
As our team moves forward, we will begin providing support for new Life Products – while building on and leveraging the work that’s been done for Annuities/GIFE.
We will need a Lead Software Engineer with a vision that goes beyond just the work at hand.
The team consists of internal and external Software Engineers, Technology Analysts and an Agile Delivery Lead, who use agile practices in order to deliver solutions for complex projects on behalf of our policyholders.
The Communication team is a core capability team that provides services across all of Life Company.
The selected applicant will be the Lead Software Engineer for the API side of the team, and embody the following characteristics: Dedication to deliver high quality results, digging in, triaging problems Maintain a continuous growth and improvement mindset.
Establish a vision that goes beyond the here and now and provides a pathway into the future, Collaborate with leadership to modernize every aspect of the Life Communications Product team.
Mentor external associates, Ensure quality code implementation to meet long-term delivery goals.
Qualifications: Technical Skills: Strong Java developer with experience in Java/J2EE technologies and frameworks Knowledge of design and object-oriented programming Strong understanding of software design patterns and testing techniques Knowledge of Agile methodologies – delivering high-quality software in incremental manner Experience developing/supporting Spring Boot Applications Experience writing quality JUnits – using JUnit, Mockito/PowerMock Experience using swagger for API Development Experience with RESTful APIs - both consuming and developing Experience using XSLT to transform XML Knowledge of markup languages – such as XML, JSON, YML Ability to create/understand XML schemas Experience with continuous delivery pipelines and automation tools Working knowledge of quality and security scan technologies – such as Sonar Familiarity with Splunk queries Experience triaging test environment issues Proficient in source code management tools (GitLab) Familiarity with: Swagger, PCF, STS, Maven, Checkstyle Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills, with the ability to communicate with audiences of varying degrees of technical skills Strong work ethic with a focus on high quality and attention to detail Strong analytical skills with the ability to critically think and solve complex problems Ability to work independently – self-motivated to triage/solve problems Strong desire to learn and grow to improve both interpersonal and technical skills Not afraid to ask questions – and knowing when to ask questions Driven to deliver high quality work with a vision for future development * Qualified candidates may be considered for other positions.
