Lead Surgical Technologist

Overview: Expected pay for this position is $26.
09 - $28.
05/hour.
Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Surgical Technologist will train the surgical technologists with the functionality associated with complex operating room equipment, instrumentation and ensures assistance to the surgeon and other team members during surgical procedures.
The Surgical Technologist Coordinator participates with the surgical team members in planning and implementing complex procedures, in collaboration with the surgeon direction.
Primarily performs duties of scrub person throughout the intra-operative phase of care.
Recognizes significant patient conditions, notifies the peri-operative registered nurse, charge nurse, anesthesia provider and/or the surgeon.
Adheres to a high standard of patient safety principles, along with application of aseptic and sterile techniques.
Follows and understands the standards and recommended practices according to the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and Association of Surgical Technologist (AST).
Qualifications: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology Experience: 2 years experience in the role of Surgical Technology License/certification: American Heart Association CPR (BLS) Other skills/knowledge: Accepts call responsibilities Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills to perform effectively and efficiently under pressure of stressful or emergent situations Knowledge of medical terminology Knowledge of surgical instruments PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certification in First Assisting OSF HealthCare is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
