*POSITION SUMMARY:* This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Under the supervision of the Sr.
Director of Program Development, this position supports the work of the Y by the development, organization, implementation and support of new and existing programming within the areas of sports.
The position builds relationships with community members including parents, volunteers, school district administration, and community partners with a measurable upward trajectory of program participation and growth.

*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* *Programmatic* 1.
Ensure high quality community-driven programs through innovative program development, evaluation, and ongoing training of staff.
2.
Facilitate the organization, management, and operation of high quality programs and establish new program activities.
3.
Champion a culture of best-in-class program quality and experience in all assigned areas, including on- and off-site programs, community partnerships and family events.
4.
Assures compliance with federal, state and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
Ensure that YMCA programming aligns with all state, local, and YMCA quality standards.
5.
Develops safety plans for programming sites and ensures all safety standards are followed by site team members.
6.
Expand programming within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans and community needs and development.
7.
Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials and supervisors; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines, and handbook.
8.
Recruit and serve as point of contact for volunteer coaches, referees, participants, and other stakeholders 9.
Develop and lead strategies to ensure members and/or program participants connect with and maintain their connection with each other and the YMCA.
10.
Partner with the Marketing department to ensure effective promotion and visibility of all program areas.
11.
Monitors and evaluates the success and effectiveness of programming through measured statistical data.
*Operational* 1.
Provide support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned.
2.
Manages annual budget for program areas.
Ensures programs operation within budget and program fees are collected through demonstrated sound fiscal management skills.
3.
Ensure a culture of inclusion that builds and celebrates diversity within the Y and our community.
4.
Meet and exceed monthly and annual goals including registration levels, year-over-year retention, penetration rates and participant progression.
*Supervisory* 1.
Train, develop, engage, and retain team members.
2.
Review and evaluate staff performance.
Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals, foster staff engagement and development.
3.
Utilize YMCA tools and standards in completing and administering performance evaluations and individual development plans.
4.
Plan and organize staff meetings to ensure consistent communications, directions and accountability.
5.
Manage bi-weekly payroll hours for accuracy and approval.
Ensure team members are following timekeeping guidelines.
6.
Develop and lead strategies to ensure team members connect with each other and other YMCA team members to foster a sense of community and servant leadership.
7.
Intentionally and continuously strives to promote a culture that values and strengthens diversity and inclusion.
8.
Demonstrates and upholds the YMCA’s core values and guiding principles of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility at all times.
*NECESSARY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:* * A Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sport Management, Exercise Science, Health, or equivalent.
* Two years of experience in a related field with comparable program growth.
* Two years of demonstrated experience training and development of volunteers and staff.
* Ability to effectively work/interact with diverse populations * Computer literacy including knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook and database management.
* Time management efficiency.
* Ability to successfully obtain certification in CPR/AED and First Aid.
* Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
*PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS*: * Three (3) to five (5) years of related field experience.
* Fun, creative and imaginative mind is desired to continue the program's growth trajectory.
* Communication proficiency in Spanish, both verbal and written.
*WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:* * Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor), while maintaining alertness for extended periods of time.
* Possible exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
* Lifting and/or assisting children up to 50 pounds in weight.
* Lifting/carrying supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
* Bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
* Ability to concisely and effectively communicate.
* Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
* Extended use of a computer.
* Due to the nature of programming, work schedules can be cyclical with intensity being greater some weeks/months than others.
As such, adjusting hours to accommodate the needs of the job are acceptable and weekend work may be required.
