Job no: 518643 Work type: On Campus Location: Normal, Illinois Title: University Supervisor of Student Teachers in World Language Teacher Education Division Name: Academic Affairs College/Unit: College of Arts and Sciences Department: Languages, Literatures and Cultures Campus Location: Normal, IL General Summary The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is in search of a pool of qualified persons interested in the supervision of teacher candidates in World Language (French, German, and Spanish) education.
Supervisors are needed in both Central Illinois and the Chicagoland area.
This position involves mentoring teacher candidates in their semester-long student teaching internship.
The university supervisor is a liaison between ISU and the school district personnel, primarily the cooperating teacher.
The supervisor is responsible for observing the student teacher on-site and providing formal and informal assessments of the teacher candidate’s teaching performance, which requires multiple (3-5) on-site observations with brief post-conference meetings.
Also required are a small number of visits to Illinois State University in Normal, IL during the academic year.
In addition to regular online communication throughout the semester, supervisors assess teacher candidates’ online assignments and collaborate with the Cooperating Teacher and ISU faculty in assessing the professional growth and determining the final grade for teacher candidates.

Required Qualifications 1.
Master’s degree in teaching or relevant academic field 2.
At least three years of World Language classroom teaching experience in a middle school or high school classroom and/or related professional experience.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law.
