Job Summary
The ISU Horticulture Center is an outdoor laboratory for students of all ages.
The Center has grown to 23 acres consisting of a wide range of gardens, natural spaces, and research plots.
During the year it is estimated the Center averages over 4,000 visitors that include diverse classes from all over campus, school groups, garden groups, and the public.
This position works with the Director of the Horticulture Center in overseeing the Horticulture Center’s grounds and working with ISU faculty, staff, and students as well as the public.
The Center depends greatly on the participation of the greater Normal-Bloomington community which are its supporters, donors, and volunteers.
This position coordinates volunteers and student workers at the Center.
The position works with faculty to coordinate classroom and research activities.
Further, this position coordinates activities with companies that have partnered with the Center.
The individual meets with the Department Chairperson and the Center Director to discuss budgetary and financial issues and fundraising efforts.
This position will act as the Center Director in the absence of the Director.
Additional Information The Horticulture Center is one of the facilities within the Department of Agriculture in the College of Applied Science and Technology.

Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or closely related fields 2.
One (1) year (12 months) of full time (or part-time equivalent) work experience in a supervisory capacity in landscape construction or maintenance.

Valid driver’s license (please see note) NOTE: Must obtain a Class C – Non CDL driver’s license within the first five (5) months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications 1.
Experience and training with equipment including mowers, small tractors, and other garden equipment.
2.
Experience in growing various types of plants and maintaining them.
3.
Pesticide Applicator’s License Work Hours Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.
m.

Some evenings and weekends Weather dependent Functional Expectations Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation: 1.
