Job no: 518269 Work type: On Campus Location: Normal, Illinois Title: Director of Student Success, Retention, and Recruitment Division Name: Academic Affairs Department: Dean of Arts & Sciences Job Summary Targeted advising: collaborates with CAS advisors to develop, update, and implement targeted interventions to increase student retention and success, with special attention to the coordination and implementation of student success initiatives supporting students who might need extra support (including first generation students, transfer students, and students who are either on probation or are at risk of being placed on probation).
This position will therefore be involved in one-on-one advising for targeted groups of students in CAS; this is a primary responsibility.
Data informed practices: will also help the Associate Dean and Dean in CAS develop, maintain, and report on quantitative and qualitative performance measures for student success so that we are data-informed in our approaches.
Coordination of retention activities: this position will ensure consistently and mutually reinforcing retention activities across programs, departments, and schools, regularly evaluate the effectiveness of retention activities and recommend changes as necessary, and recommend and implement changes for enhancement, and monitor effectiveness; this will mean coordinating with chairs and directors, faculty, and advisors in CAS units.
Liaison for other advisors in CAS: will also help with the onboarding of CAS advisors and participate in monthly CAS advisors meetings.
Liaison to other student success operations at ISU: This position will serve as a liaison to other directors and coordinators of student success across campus so that CAS efforts are in parallel with the priorities of the Provost’s Office, University College, and other academic colleges.
Temporary coverage for advising gaps: finally, this position will help cover gaps in advising if an advisor goes on temporary leave or resigns before we have a replacement hire.

Bachelor's degree 2.
Three (3) years of full time or part-time equivalent professional level experience in a student affairs, advising, or academic support role that includes responsibilities for tracking student progress toward college degree completion, oversight of student success initiatives, or development of programming related to student support initiatives.

Demonstrated knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, Campus Solutions, Power BI, COGNOS, how to interpret and access student information files, registration files graduation audits and articulation files.

Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications 1.
Master's degree in higher education or student affairs related area.

Experience with managing data related to student success, including data collection and analysis.
