We are seeking qualified candidates with a specialization in Special Education with Deaf/Hard of Hearing (D/HH) Expertise.
The Department of Special Education and the College of Education are committed to increasing the diversity of the campus community.

The normal teaching load is nine credit hours per semester.
The individual in this position is thus expected to teach 3 courses each semester in the Department of Special Education.
The position is a nine-month, tenured appointment with the possibility of summer teaching.
Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The locus of annual evaluation and promotion in rank will be in the Department of Special Education.

The successful candidate for the Associate/Full Professor D/HH position will be integral in collaborative work with Department faculty to enhance our programs.
We are interested in a seasoned candidate with an established scholarly agenda, experience in university settings, and an interest in program development.
This individual will help us enhance our undergraduate curricula for the D/HH program and explore the development of a graduate program in this area.
With few Deaf Education teacher training programs and a critical shortage of Teachers of the D/HH, we see a need to continuously enhance our programs and explore possibilities for growth.
We are seeking a team member who has experience and passion for collaboration in teaching and scholarship and program enhancement/development.
Additional Information The Department of Special Education/College of Education (SED/COE) has built a strong reputation for scholarly work in the field of education as the fourth largest producer of teachers in the nation and boasts a pool of 17 tenure-track and 28 non-tenure track faculty.
In addition, the Department of Special Education was recognized by College Factual as the number one school on the lists of Best Colleges for Special Education in both Illinois and the United States.
The department enrolls approximately 700 undergraduate and 150 graduate students each year across seven different majors in special education.
Of the 700 undergraduates, approximately 80 are typically majoring in Deaf/Hard of Hearing studies.
ISU is one of only four higher education institutions in the nation that have degree programs in both Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Low Vision/Blindness.
At ISU we embrace our responsibility to produce high quality teachers.
We are committed to teaching a comprehensive philosophy that values Deaf-centered objectives and needs, Deaf Culture, and Deaf history.
We also teach listening and spoken language methodologies that are essential for children and families who choose this communication approach.
Students are required to demonstrate proficiency in ASL and are exposed to the spectrum of manual communication (i.
e.
, ASL, CASE, Cued Speech).
Our goal is to graduate professionals who are well-rounded and will support the intersectionality and diverse needs of D/HH and Deaf+ students within the range of placements that Teachers of the D/HH might find themselves (residential, itinerant, resource).
The College of Education hosts three Departments including: Educational Administration and Foundations (EAF), Teaching and Learning (TCH), and Special Education.
The College of Education is well positioned for research and school collaborations with easy access to both urban and rural districts and additional opportunities for research in the university-supported P12 laboratory school.

Demonstrate expertise in teaching and/or scholarship focused on D/HH education or related topics.

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of refereed scholarly outcomes to warrant tenure and the rank of associate or full professor at the time of hire.
4.
Have evidence of at least one year experience teaching in P-12 education.
5.
Be able to demonstrate proficiency in the English language as mandated by state law.
