After a long period of online schooling, some kids in Central Illinois could really use your help and support.
The Illinois Tutoring Initiative will assist tutors and their K-12 students through strong training for tutors, available resources and materials, and direct connections to district curriculum.
Areas for tutoring include 3-8 reading and 3-8 math.
The initiative is serving 3,000 students across the state of Illinois.
Join the pool of tutors and we will get you matched with a student when available.
Tutors from across the state will tutor PK-12 students either individually or in small group of 1-3 students in Illinois.
Tutors may be matched with PK-12 students by proximity, content area and age-level.
Tutoring may occur face-to-face or online.
Tutoring format (whether face-to-face or via online) will be up to the district and could switch during any semester (as districts open and close access to buildings based on a variety of factors).
Tutors will work consistently with the same student(s) for the period of one semester for 3 hour-long sessions per week.
Tutors will also have 1.
5 hours of planning time per week to prepare for tutoring sessions.

The Illinois Tutoring Initiative is a grant-funded project that will end after funding ceases in September 2024.
Tutors will be matched on a semester basis.
Tutors will also be paid for required training and planning time and receive mileage reimbursement for any face-to-face tutoring sessions.
Salary Rate / Pay Rate $50.
00 per hour Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with PK-12 students.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Technology (iPad or laptop) for use in tutoring sessions and/or for submission of required paperwork Work Hours Scheduled with K-12 district partners and student/family for 3 hours per week of tutoring and 1.
5 hours per week of planning.
Functional Expectations Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation: Effectively communicate on a daily basis.
Remain at a workstation for extended periods.

Tutors will remain in the pool for the semester.
Extra Help employees may only work up to 28 hours per week for all University employment.
Employees are only paid for hours worked and do not qualify for most benefits including health insurance and retirement, with Illinois State University.
However, Extra Help employees are eligible to participate in the University’s supplemental retirement savings plans (403b).
Applicable retirement information is provided at the time of hire.
There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.
In addition, extra help employees may only work up to 900 hours total during their employment.
