The Day Camp Counselor – Kindergarten Adventure Camp position will report directly to the Youth Enrichment/Day Camp Supervisor.
This is a part-time/seasonal position responsible for supervising day camp participants entering Kindergarten in the Fall (ages 4-5 years old) at our fully outdoor day camp.
The day camp counselor will be responsible for overseeing camp activities including, but not limited to group games, arts & crafts, swimming once a week, weekly field trips, etc.
Most of the day is spent outside at the Natural Playground at Colene Hoose.
The working season for this position is late May through early August.
Typical hours are 7:45am-3:15pm, Monday-Friday.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist with planning daily activities and field tripsLead recreational and educational activities (i.
e.
, swimming, arts & crafts, group games, etc.
)Engage with children while involved in all activities throughout the camp dayResolve occasional conflicts between campers and appropriately address behavioral issuesAssist site supervisors with keeping accurate incident/injury/behavioral logsEnsure day camp site is clean and campers do not litter recreational areas or nature Communicate effectively with participants, parents/guardians and staff regarding rule infractions, questions, and concernsTake daily attendance and assist with sign out proceduresAssist with keeping storage areas clean and organizedPerform first aid or take care of minor injuries as needed
