Position Summary Under administrative supervision, each employee is responsible for helping members of the general public to locate and obtain copies of various public records from an archive index registry dating back to 1831.
This position requires processing of incoming records in both electronic as well as hard copy formats.
The ideal candidate must display a positive image as a representative of McLean County government.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (May not include all duties performed) Issue and/or certify requested documents and handle payments for records dispensed Provide general information including referral to other government entities on a case-by-case basis Assist customers with the use and nuances of the Recorder"s library of records Access archival information from microfilm and digital storage Time stamp/prepare incoming documents for the imaging process Scan documents for digital archiving Perform legal review of incoming documents, accepting or denying them and sending request for correction letters Prepare and submit post-recorded documents to the internal U.

Index key information into a custom database with meticulous accuracy Regular and prompt attendance Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic knowledge of title to real estate or other land-related documents Attention to detail Must possess the ability to accurately key-enter data at a minimum of 60 words per minute without punctuation.
Ability to handle cash, make accurate change, issue receipts and follow basic ID verification procedures for the dispensing of certain vital records Knowledge of the operation of computers with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Required Qualifications Graduation from high school or GED, including or supplemented by coursework or training in keyboarding, data entry and other basic clerical skills; one or more years of experience in providing services to the public; or any combination of education and experience that would provide the above noted knowledge, skills, and abilities See also Personnel Policies in County Code: https://ecode360.
com/13418395 Preferred Qualifications College degree Real estate background or basic knowledge of land-related documents Physical Attributes/Demands This position requires activities such as sitting or standing for extended periods of time, bending, stooping, climbing stairs, and occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment This is a library-type office environment that promotes focus for fast-paced processing of incoming records.
Business casual attire is required.
Operation of personal computer, phone, copier, scanner, and other general office equipment is required on a frequent basis.
