be/CSVMnKCySsY PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of payroll, maintenance of payroll records, tax and garnishment setup and reconciliation of errors.
Provides support to local HR/Payroll Administrators, responds to tax authority inquiries and runs reports as needed.
Under the general direction of the Payroll Manager provides leadership for the Payroll Specialists for payroll processing and documentation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Provides support, guidance and training to Payroll Specialists on all system processes and functions.
Supports projects, technical updates, new implementations, and reporting.
Prepares and processes payroll for assigned companies for regular and off-cycle processing.
Reviews and resolves validation errors and works to resolve all open items prior to live payroll processing.
Provides support to local/field HR/Payroll Administrators.
Loads hours files in preparation for payroll processing, verifies accuracy of the load, and resolves discrepancies.
Assists HR/Payroll Administrators with employee simulations and troubleshooting issues.
Creates and maintains documentation for payroll processes and procedures for standardization of end user training materials.
Provides guidance and training to Payroll Specialists and HR/Payroll Administrators, as needed.
Functions as Administrator for the Kronos time entry system that includes maintaining profiles, system rules, billing, time clock ordering and maintenance, timecards, and annual PTO carryover, accruals and other updates.
Works with local IT teams and location staff to assist with new clock set-up.
Provides support and guidance to team for reconciliation of payroll general ledger accounts.
Completes reconciliation of assigned accounts.
Researches and resolves discrepancies in a timely manner.
Submits journal entry changes/corrections to finance.
Oversees billing process for payroll customers and ensures items are categorized correctly.
Provides reports and analysis as needed.
Leads tasks and assists with project planning for system conversions, mergers and acquisitions and technical updates including testing, verifying data/calculations, and troubleshooting issues.
Assists with preparing payroll reports for HR/Payroll Administrators, internal/external auditors, and other requests, as needed.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS Requires a minimum of a two-year degree or higher in accounting or business or the equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing with demonstrated knowledge of payroll and accounting processes.
Knowledge of multi-state payroll, using multiple federal tax ID’s (FEIN) and in-depth understanding of local taxes.
Experience with SAP Payroll preferred.
Prefer completion of Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Demonstrated knowledge and experience with payroll processing, taxes, analysis, reconciliation, general ledger, billing, control functions, journals, implementations, conversions, audits and report generation.
Strong demonstrated MS Excel skills and experience with other MS Office products.
Ability to acquire FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CCP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification or be willing to complete certification within two years of hire.
Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.
Proven professional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills and the ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Demonstrated planning, organization, and problem-solving skills and the ability to meet established deadlines, perform complex accounting functions, do multi-tasking, and analytical projects as requested.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel overnight and to work overtime as necessary.
Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
