Midwest Food Bank (MFB) is a $450M non-profit organization with 10 divisions in the U.
S.
and 2 operations internationally.
MFB operates with $70M in assets and an annual organizational operating budget of $17M to distribute over $450M in food and disaster relief boxes to 2,200 agencies.

JOB ROLE PURPOSE & SUMMARY:
The accountant role will assist in annual accounting processes such as budgets, donation summaries and updating manuals.
The accountant role will also review and run inventory reports for accuracy and data recording.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Identify, understand, maintain, and verify accurate financial records, processes, procedures, and control systems.
Prepare donation receipts and reports on a weekly basis for Midwest Food Bank Central, Africa, and Haiti divisions.
Prepare combined donation summary and thank you letter on an annual basis.
Collect and maintain financial records and vendor W-9s for end of year reporting and create 1099’s for organization.
Review and upload documents to file storage software Egnyte.
Provide finance-related reports monthly to the Africa & Haiti Board Presidents and Midwest Food Bank Central to the Accounting Director.
Process payment of monthly internal invoices.
Assist Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable posting clean up.
Assist to complete Workman’s Comp Audit annually.
Review organizational grants, asset purchases, procurement policy purchases quarterly.
Input annual divisional budgets into software.
Assists to create and maintain up to date bookkeeper manual of policies and procedures.
Run, review and test inventory reports for data integrity & consistency of product codes, values, etc.
Provide monthly divisional inventory reports to Accounting Director.
Reconcile intercompany billings and accounts monthly.
Oversee Midwest Food Bank Central Volunteer Bookkeepers workflows.
Three 8-9 hour days; 24 hours/week.

QUALIFICATIONS:
2 years relevant work experience desired.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field desired.
Thorough understanding of accounting and GAAP principles and procedures.
Experience in a broad range of bookkeeping and data entry functions for a mid-size business, including integrity and confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to create a team-oriented environment and achieving results through others.
Proven initiative, problem-solving, organization, and time management skills.
Excellent professional communications, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Ability to use technology or learn computer skills, such as Office 365, Salesforce, SageIntacct, Egnyte.
Willingness to participate in training that may include development of professional skills, education on MFB’s policies and procedures, and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer in an office setting.
Minimal travel in- and out-of-state as needed, infrequent evening and weekend obligations.
